I no longer let the haters affect me. I know now what's causing the hate, and it has nothing to do with me. It's about their own unhealed traumas, 

When someone who once was nice to you suddenly behaves as if they despise you, the problem is not you. You haven't done anything wrong. You are a mirror that forces them to see something about themselves that they don't want to deal with. Their own fears, insecurities, regrets, self-doubt and other unhealed trauma is the real reason why they hate you. You have something that they wish they could have.

Maybe it's your confidence, your courage or your overall authenticity. They see you winning and feel inadequate in comparison. So they criticize and talk behind your back. Their reaction is coming from their own pain. So don't try to change them or control how they see you. 

Shame and fear are powerful emotions. Defensiveness, anger and withdrawal are common reactions to fear and shame. People look at you and find reasons to dislike you when you challenge their entire way of existing. This video is an excellent explanation for that mysterious person who suddenly starts hating you. 

I have experienced this myself, and it is one of the most baffling things I have ever endured. I wish that I had known this ten years ago. I now have peace about being hated, because I know it is not about me. It is about what's lacking in them. 

When you realize the truth about sudden haters, you almost have to feel sorry for them. I would have responded differently if I had known what was motivating their hatred. This problem can also be a spiritual problem if you are someone who exposes the darkness in others. 

They don't hate you. They hate what you represent. You have something that they lack, and they don't want to do the work to heal their problems, so they lash out at the walking mirror that makes them look bad. You have your act together and they don't, and that is why they hate you. 

I now take it as a compliment, set boundaries and keep moving. And I continue to pray for them. They are in bondage. And they need to be set free.
