THE HOPE THAT MAKES CHRISTIANS UNCOMFORTABLE
THE BLESSED HOPE ELUDES MANY CHRISTIANS

One of the most controversial subjects
among Christians is the rapture of the church. Christians seem
confused and frightened by this subject. And some pastors don't teach
the whole counsel of God's word, which would help relieve the fear
and confusion. False teachings, weak sermons, and Christians who
ignore the truth contribute to the confusion (2 Timothy 4:1-5).
The
rapture is an event which was prophesied by the Apostle Paul. He gave
a clear description of it in his letters to the Thessalonians and
Corinthians. According to scripture, at some future time, believers
will be snatched from the Earth in a fraction of a second and
transported to Heaven. This event is controversial because
some Christians don't believe in the rapture of the church. And many
who do believe are not looking forward to what the Bible calls our
“blessed hope” (Titus 2:13).
I discussed the rapture with two women
who attend church regularly, and I expected both of them to be
receptive to the topic, but they were not. The first woman said the
rapture is “science fiction” and the second woman argued that we
can't take the Bible literally because her pastor said we can't. And
since he doesn't believe in the rapture, neither does she.
Those women should read God's word
instead of only trusting the church pastor. “All scripture is given
by inspiration of God...” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Why would God
inspire the writing of a book that we can't take literally?
Christians who don't believe in the rapture don't know the Bible:
John 14: 1-3
This passage
contains the promise from Jesus that He will return to Earth for the
believers and take them to Heaven.
1 Thess 4: 13-18
In this passage,
the apostle Paul answers the question, “Do believers who have died
miss out on the rapture?”
1 Thess 4: 16-18
In
this passage, Paul spells out the chronological sequence of the
rapture event and he concludes that the promise of the rapture should
be a comfort
to us.
We are supposed to
find comfort in this promised event, yet many Christians are far from
comfortable when discussing the rapture. You can almost see them
squirm in their seats as they try to change the subject. “That's
not a popular topic,”they argue. Christians who convey such an
attitude about our blessed hope are a mystery to me.
Haven't they read
2 Timothy 9:7-8? Don't they know that the crown of righteousness
awaits all who long for the Lord's soon return?
Haven't they read
Luke 21:34-36, which instructs us to pray always that we may be
accounted worthy to escape?
What exactly are
we escaping from when the church is raptured? The same thing that
Noah and Lot escaped from when God rescued them from an evil world
that grew more and more evil. We learn from the accounts of Noah and
Lot that God removes His people when danger is involved.
We live in a
dangerous world. Nothing about planet earth is getting better. The
danger only grows worse. More and more people are carrying guns to
protect themselves from lawless thugs like those who are killing and
injuring people on the streets as part of a game called the knockout
game. Our society has sunk so low that people are now punching total
strangers and catching it on camera for entertainment.
Our language is
growing worse, our morals are declining, the rules of modesty and
respect have vanished. Those who know what's really going on in the
world and those who know God's word realize that we are living in a
time that is similar to the days of Noah and Lot.
In Matthew 24,
Jesus is asked, “What shall be the signs of your coming and of the
end of the world?” Jesus then describes what the world will be like
just before He returns to remove (rapture) those who have received
Him as their savior. What Jesus describes in Matthew 24 is the same
mess that describes our present world.
Have you noticed the increase in the
number and severity of earthquakes? The bizarre animal deaths and
sinkholes? Record-setting storms? Destructive tornadoes and tsunamis?
The volcanoes all over the world that have lain dormant for centuries
that are now erupting? Does the obvious decline of morality in people
alarm you at all. Do you worry what this world will be like for your
children?
At this point we are handing our
children a 17 trillion dollar national debt that will be impossible
to pay back. Millions of people have lost their health insurance
under Obamacare. For others, their rates have quadrupled. Thousands
of doctors are giving up their practices because they can't maintain
their businesses under Obamacare. Thousands of volunteer fire
departments face closure or financial hardship because Obamacare
requires that volunteers be given full health coverage. And when 12
million illegal aliens become American citizens with a flick of
Obama's pen, the fallout will be devastating.
Did you watch the House hearings that
looked at Obama's growing dictatorial powers? Our own government
leaders know we have a dictator in the White House, but the American
people don't care. Obama is caught in one scandal after another and
we yawn. Fast and Furious, Benghazi, and the scandals with the IRS,
the Department of Justice and the NSA haven't woken anyone from their
slumber. We swallowed the lie “If you like your health insurance,
you can keep it.” Chalk that up as scandal number six.
The birth certificate scandal counts as
seven. Obama claims he was born in Hawaii, but his wife has said that
Kenya is his homeland. No one holds Obama accountable. Like Hitler,
he does what he wants and no one questions him. So why is it so hard
to believe that his Affordable Care Act allows for death panels to
decide who gets healthcare and who doesn't?
Possibly bigger and more dangerous than
Obamacare is the the Trans-Pacific Partnership. This brilliant idea
will offer huge advantages to foreign businesses while putting
American companies, especially small businesses at a disadvantage so
severe that many won't be able to survive. This could pass early next
year and it's an all-out assault on our national sovereignty as it
unconstitutionally transfers legislative powers. One more crippling
blow to America.
Obama has appointed hard core sharia
law Muslims to key positions in Washington. If he condones the
cruelty of sharia law and if he voted to deny care for babies who
survive abortions, then what cruelty awaits the American people? He
refuses to put his hand over his heart and say the pledge of
allegiance. He refuses to wear an American flag pin. His actions
display a hatred for America and we give him four more years.
This country is being destroyed by a
dictator who glorifies Muslims but claims to be a Christian. He mocks
the God of the Bible by his love for Islam. Muslims believe that
anyone who doesn't worship Allah is an infidel who should be killed.
Why are Christians who hold home Bible
studies being harassed? Everything related to Jesus Christ, the Holy
Bible and the God who inspired it is being pushed out of sight and
mind. Why do 100 million Christians face persecution every day? Why
can't Phil Robertson quote scripture from the Holy Bible without
being suspended from his show on A&E. This country has declared
war on Christianity and in the process has denied Christians their
constitutional right of free speech.
Why are we seeing a repression of
Christian faith in the military? Freedom of religion is no longer one
of the rights our soldiers are allowed to defend. The US Department
of Defense has recently begun teaching seminars that list evangelical
Christians and Catholics as subversive groups. US troops who express
their Christian faith are being punished. Don't believe me? Take

We live in a totalitarian police state
that monitors our every move. Cameras are watching us. Our phone
conversations are recorded. A recent article in the Washington Post
claims that the NSA is gathering nearly 5 billion records a day on
the whereabouts of cell phones around the world, enabling Big Brother
to track your daily movement and map your relationships with others.
You may think you have nothing to hide, but if Christians can be
labeled as subversive, who's next?
Our education system is being destroyed
by progressives who push their Common Core Curriculum. “Five

Problems for The Future of The Republic.”
If these things continue to worsen,
won't we be crying out to escape? Yet some Christians reading this
might say I'm a doom and gloomer. They have no hope in anything
beyond their lives on this earth. They don't know God's word and they
don't want to hear anything that might disrupt their love of this
world--tomorrow night's game, their dinner reservations, or the next
episode of DWTS.
The first century church had a strong
desire for the soon return of Jesus. I see no such yearning in our
churches today. Scripture constantly warns us to watch for the Lord's
coming and be ready (Luke 12: 35,40). By being ignorant of scripture
and not looking forward to the Lord's return, Christians are
fulfilling Peter's words in his second letter (2 Peter 3:1-10).
In closing, I have three questions for
Christians who either don't believe in the rapture or are not looking
forward to it:
Why aren't you
looking forward to an event that is described in the Bible as our
blessed hope?
What are you
afraid of?
Do you love this
crumbling, corrupt world so much that you couldn't let go of it if
God calls you home?

MEAN GIRLS PAY A BIG PRICE
What is it about girls and women? They just can't seem to get along. It's no coincidence that the number one post on my blog is about women who can't get along. This is obviously a subject that many people can relate to. And I feel inspired to write about it once again because I've been witnessing the evidence a lot lately.
I recently attended eighth grade recognition night at Halifax Middle School. Female students gave wonderful speeches about the memories they will one day look back on and the friendships that they cherish. The program was held on stage under a banner that read, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
The very next day during a field day event several girls displayed their true colors by being mean. They laughed, They made fun. They spewed their hatred with sarcastic remarks that were meant to humiliate and bring pain.
The banner that those girls stood under the night before was made into a mockery. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Why is that such a difficult rule to live by?
I've pondered this question many times in the past year and a half. I've watched women and girls take pleasure in making others feel inadequate. They just couldn't wait to point out the faults of another and they often preferred an audience while doing it. I've overheard conversations that were filled with envy toward others. Some of the incidences became so bad that I had to walk away from positions that I enjoyed.
Our culture has become nothing more than a fiercely competitive playing field for girls and women. Years ago women supported and encouraged each other. Today they are taught to be mean, to compete, to be the best, and to walk on anyone who gets in their way.
I wrote a brief article titled, Mean Girls Need a Honey Lesson, which I posted on my blog a while back. It was about how women behave on the TV shows The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. I pointed out that on almost every season of the Bachelor, the girl who is chosen is the girl who doesn't badmouth the other girls because she chooses not to have a competitive attitude, The girl who is relaxed, calm and gently respectful of others is the girl that gets the guy. I can pick her out every time.
The moral of that story is that there's a price for being mean. There's a price for thinking you're better than others. There's a price for treating people disrespectfully. There's a price for displaying envy and making cutting remarks. There's a price for thinking that every female that crosses your path is competition that needs to be brought down.
God has a way of exposing competitive women and showing the world their true colors. He has a way of withholding blessing from girls and women who don't encourage each other. He has a way of bringing misery into the lives of those who choose to hate instead of love.
God's word teaches us to honor people and he promises that things will go well in our lives if we do. But God's word also warns about the curses that will follow us when we are hateful and don't live according to his rules. Read the entire chapter of Deuteronomy 28 and you'll realize just how much you hurt yourself when you're hateful toward people.
There's a payoff for being kind. There's a curse for being cruel. That's the way the world works. So next time you're tempted to make that sassy remark or cut someone to the core, remember that you're not just hurting her, you're hurting yourself. By your own choice you're bringing curses into your life. Things will not go well with you if you choose to be a mean girl.

HOW MUCH WILL WE TOLERATE?
It absolutely astounds me how tolerant people are about the government incursion into their daily lives. It has now been three years since the TSA was allowed to feel up strangers at the airport. And Obama has the power to arrest anyone for any reason in the name of terrorism. When you add the latest breach of trust, I just wonder what would cause the America people to say, “Now, you’ve gone too far.” Because the Bible warns that the last days will be a time of global dictatorship. My fear is that they will wait too long to become outraged.

THE END OF THE GODLY MOTHER
I'm still on break, but I wanted to post an article for Mother's Day. We live in a culture that attacks women who live according to God's word. If you dress modestly, you're a prude. If you have a gentle, quiet spirit you're shy and unambitious. To be a homemaker means being laughed at. The work that wives and mothers do is not valued in today's world.
Godly women are demeaned constantly for the way they choose to live. In this culture only thin, beautiful, scantily clad money makers are worth anything. We even criticize mothers for wanting to stay home and care for their children. Our culture tells women to love money more. Not even the church is commited to protecting the roles of godly mothers. This is why they are a dying breed.
The Ignorant Fishermen Blog: The End of the Godly Mother

It is absolutely stunning how quickly the moral foundation of our nation has been eroding away. Sometimes I have to wonder if the prophet Isaiah was being prophetic about our timeframe when he wrote, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20)
A week ago, two people in the sports world made news. One was a football player who was rejected because of his strong Christian confession and the other was a gay basketball player who was praised for simply declaring his sexual preference.
The football star was Tim Tebow, who has gotten under the skin of the liberal media and other atheist groups, making himself the “poster boy” for Christianity. Tebow accomplished this task by praying on the field after a win, putting Bible verses on his eye black during games, and starring in an anti-abortion ad during the Super Bowl.
I knew when Tebow moved from Colorado to the New York Jets it would end in disaster. The left-coast press did everything they could to attack him. I remember a bunch of Salem witches casting spells on Tim Tebow to ensure he would lose the big game.
The New York Jets couldn’t have hated Tim Tebow more. They dumped him on the first Monday after the NFL draft, knowing that other teams’ rosters would be filled. The chance Tebow will find another job in the league is bleak. It is absolutely stunning how quickly the moral foundation of our nation has been eroding away. Sometimes I have to wonder if the prophet Isaiah was being prophetic about our timeframe when he wrote, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20)
A week ago, two people in the sports world made news. One was a football player who was rejected because of his strong Christian confession and the other was a gay basketball player who was praised for simply declaring his sexual preference.
The football star was Tim Tebow, who has gotten under the skin of the liberal media and other atheist groups, making himself the “poster boy” for Christianity. Tebow accomplished this task by praying on the field after a win, putting Bible verses on his eye black during games, and starring in an anti-abortion ad during the Super Bowl.
I knew when Tebow moved from Colorado to the New York Jets it would end in disaster. The left-coast press did everything they could to attack him. I remember a bunch of Salem witches casting spells on Tim Tebow to ensure he would lose the big game.

just homosexuality, [but] adultery, fornication, premarital sex,

There is no doubt in my mind that we have reached the point where sin
produces a type illogical insanity. Anyone who thinks someone who has
sex with his same gender is preferred over someone who prays on the
field needs to be fitted with one of those white jackets that buckles in
the back.

Real Terror Threatening America
The recent massive police action in Boston has caused many people to assess what are the true dangers that we face. The same time that 10,000 law enforcement officials where looking for the second bombing suspect, eleven more people were murdered in other cities. In the past twenty years 3,300 people have been killed by terrorism in America, with most of those deaths related to the 9/11 attacks. During the same period nearly one million people have died from violent crime.
Many of our nations largest cities are rotting from the inside out. Blogger, Michael Snyder of the site, “The Economic Collapse” has been one of the best online trackers of the social and economic decline of urban America. Here are twelve examples he sited from a much longer list:
1. According to The New York Times there are now approximately 70,000 abandoned buildings in Detroit.
2. Back during the housing bubble, an acre of land in downtown Phoenix,
Arizona sold for about $90 a square foot. Today, an acre in downtown
Phoenix sells for about $9 a square foot.
3. The number of murders in Chicago last year was roughly equivalent to
the number of murders in the entire country of Japan during 2012.
4. The city of Baltimore is already facing unfunded liabilities of more
than 3.2 billion dollars, but the city government continues to pile up
more debt as if it was going out of style.
USA Today, the “share of jobs located
in or near a downtown declined in 91 of the nation's 100 largest
metropolitan areas” between 2000 and 2010.
6. There are more than 85,000 streetlights in Detroit, but thieves have
stripped so much copper wiring out of the lights that more than half of
them are not working.
7. It has been estimated that there are more than 1,000 homeless people
living in the massive network of flood tunnels under the city of Las
Vegas.
8. If you can believe it, more than 11,000 homes, cars and businesses
were burglarized in Oakland during 2012. That breaks down to
approximately 33 burglaries a day.
9. The murder rate in Flint, Michigan is higher than the murder rate in Baghdad.
10. If New Orleans were considered to be a separate nation, it would have the second highest murder rate on the entire planet.
11. According to the Justice Department’s, National Drug Intelligence
Center, Mexican drug cartels were actively operating in 50 different
U.S. cities in 2006. By 2010, that number had skyrocketed to 1,286.
12. Back in 2007, the number of New York City residents on food stamps
was about one million. It is now being projected that the number of New
York City residents on food stamps will pass the two million mark this
summer.
Once upon a time, Detroit was one of the greatest cities in the entire
world. The city was once so wealthy from manufacturing; its splendor
made it a Mecca for tourism. Today, Detroit has become a tourist stop
for all the wrong reasons. Here is a sad excerpt from an article in The New York Times:
“But in Detroit, the tours go on, in an unofficial capacity. One afternoon at the ruins of the 3.5-million-square-foot Packard Plant, I ran into a family from Paris. The daughter said she read about the building in “Lonely Planet.” Her father had a camcorder hanging around his neck. Another time, while conducting my own tour for a guest, a group of German college students drove up. When queried as to the appeal of Detroit, one of them gleefully exclaimed, “I came to see the end of the world!”
The key problem with Detroit and other cities is a collapse in the moral fabric of our nation. The welfare state has enslaved a huge portion of our population into a life of dependency. The number of Americans on food stamps and disability has climbed steadily over the past several years. We now have over a 100 million Americans enrolled in at least one welfare program run by the federal government.
State and local governments have become addicted to federal welfare money. For cash-strapped Florida, increasing food-stamp enrollment is seen as a key means of economic growth, bringing almost $6 billion each year into the state. Florida and other states have hired agents to find and enroll people into these programs. Many of them have monthly quotas that they need to meet.
The question that has crossed my mind many times is, “What will happen to these welfare dependant cites when the money runs out?” Detroit is already at the point where people are calling it a war zone. There would total chaos if half the people in the city suddenly lost their government handouts.
There is no doubt in my mind that the breakdown of the debt-based monetary system would force governments around the world to declare martial law. What we just witnessed in Boston would be the perfect template.
The occurrence of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture will only makes matter worse. Since believers are part of the financial backbone of America, our sudden removal would destroy what remains of the economy. Because the negative consequences of being left behind are so high, I ask everyone with any doubt to rethink where you stand with God.
“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man” (Luke 21:36).

April 29, 2013 – CHINA – There is no evidence that the deadly H7N9 bird flu has yet spread between humans in China but health authorities must be ready for the virus to mutate at any time, a top US virologist has warned. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), said officials in China had studied more than 1,000 close contacts of confirmed cases and not found any evidence of human-to-human transmission. “That is powerful evidence because if you had a thousand contacts with someone with the flu you would be pretty sure some of them would have been infected,” Fauci said in an interview with AFP. Nevertheless, Fauci cautioned that authorities needed to be ready for the possibility of the virus mutating and spreading between humans. “It’s unpredictable as are all the influenza. One of the things we need to be concerned about is this might gain the capability of going human-to-human which up to this point has not happened and is somewhat encouraging news,” Fauci said. “But we still need to be very prepared for the eventuality of that happening.” Researchers are already developing a diagnostic test to identify H7N9, along with a vaccine, with clinical trials due in July or August. “Work is under way on making a diagnostic test to be able to pick it up quickly,” Fauci said. “We have already started on an early development of a vaccine as we did with H5N1 years ago… Hopefully, we will never have to use it.” More than 110 people in mainland China have been confirmed to be infected with H7N9, with 23 deaths, since Beijing announced on March 31 that the virus had been found in humans. Most of the cases have been located in eastern China, although Taiwan has reported one case. Another case has been found in southern China, while Chinese officials confirmed a further outbreak in the central province of Hunan. Chinese authorities have identified poultry as the source of the virus and have confirmed that patients became sick from contact with infected live fowl. A visiting team from the World Health Organization, which wrapped up a week-long visit to China on Wednesday, said there had been no human-to-human transmission but warned H7N9 was “one of the most lethal” influenza viruses ever seen. Fauci praised Beijing for its handling of the current crisis, contrasting it to the response of the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome in 2002-2003, when China stood accused of covering-up the scale of the crisis. “It was not the case with SARS in 2003 but the transparency has been excellent,” Fauci said. “I am quite satisfied with the Chinese response.” Fauci likened the current H7N9 strain of bird flu “in some respects” to the H5N1 bird flu strain of several years ago. “The similarities are that it is fundamentally a chicken or bird flu that jumps from chicken to humans and is quite severe when it infects humans,” he said. However, Fauci added: “The difference between H7N9 and H5N1, is that H5N1 kills chickens very rapidly so it is easy to identify where the infected flocks of chickens are. H7N9 doesn’t make the chicken sick, so it has been difficult to pinpoint where the infected chickens are.” There have been 566 confirmed cases of the H5N1 strain of bird flu, which killed 332 people in the world — a mortality rate of 58 percent, compared to 20 percent for the H7N9 bird flu strain. The H1N1 “swine flu” pandemic in 2009, which appeared in Mexico at the same time of year as the H7N9, eventually infected 60 million people throughout the world and killed more than 12,000. The 1918 Spanish flu, which has been called one of the deadliest plagues in human history (killing 5% of the world’s population), had a mortality rate of only two percent. –France 24
