MOVE TO A TREEE

I had a children's book about brothers and sisters who packed their bags with sweaters and socks and scarves and mittens and woolen caps and moved to a tree. "We liked our tree," the book said. "There was always a breeze in the afternoon that...." I don't remember the rest, but I had that book memorized as a child.

I spent a lot of time in trees when I was growing up in the small town of Pillow PA in the sixties and seventies. These photos brought back those memories. Who wouldn't want to spend time in a tree if it meant living in a place like this?

FEELING CREEPY ABOUT IT

I recently posted some information about Halloween. If you scroll down you can find the article and videos. After reading about the satanic origin of Halloween, I feel uneasy about it. But I haven't yet forbid my daughter from participating in all Halloween activities. Although this is the year that we said it's time for her to stop getting dressed up and going trick or treating, she is participating in Halloween parades this week.

What is a parent to do when the school band is in the Halloween parade and your daughter is in the school band?

What is a parent to do when the dance class your daughter just joined is performing in front of the judges at the Halloween parade?

What's a parent to do when the school club your daughter has been a part of for years is preparing a float for the Halloween parade and club members are expected to be on the float?

These may seem like trivial problems, but to a teenage girl they aren't trivial. She worked hard at these activities and of course she wants to take part in the accolades. If we forbid her from taking part in these events, then we discourage the very activities that we have encouraged her to do in the first place.

What I really wish is that we would stop using the word Halloween and start calling the parade a Fall Parade. I wish we would stop glamorizing witches and vampires and all the satanic symbols that we relate to Halloween. I wish that these events wouldn't take place at the end of October as the satanic customs did (and still do in the occult world.)

Some people are thinking right now, Oh just relax. What's the big deal. It's all just harmless fun. But I can't relax about a Holiday that has satanic origins. To participate in these things is to accept them as being okay.
So I'm having a hard time with this. The link below is another example of the things I read that make me uneasy about Halloween.

ONE LESS THING TO WORRY ABOUT

Have you ever come home from a gathering of family and friends and then spent the next day worrying about the things you said? Did I sound prideful? Did she take what I said the wrong way? Was I talking too much? Was I too passionate about the subject? Did I offend anyone?

To an extent, all of us worry about what other people think. We wonder how we are perceived. We wish we could get inside their heads and know what people truly think of us. It all comes down to needing the approval of others. We base our identity on the judgement of others. We think part of our identity is how people view us.

Worrying what people think is a subject that many people fret over, sometimes on a daily basis. Just Google the subject and you will have enough reading material for a month. On 43things.com, the world's largest goal setting community, 4,000 people said that they wish they could stop caring what other people think.  And on Wiki How, you can learn the seven steps to not care what others think of you.

As a representative of Christ, I do care what others think of me. But I have to remind myself that not everyone is going to like what I have to say. Some people might think that I am prideful. Some might think I'm too harsh. They might disagree with me. They might even think that I've gone bonkers. And I could go bonkers if I allowed myself to worry about these things.

Even Jesus wanted men to admire Him and trust Him, but He didn't change who He was to win their approval. And neither should we. The best way to stop caring so much what others think is to start caring about what God thinks. Start caring about what others think of Christ. Analyze everything you say and do in light of His approval.

We worry so much about our reputations, but what can mere men do to us? Do we really need to fear what others think? Isn't all that fretting just wasted time? Are we seeking the favor of men or the favor of God? Eternity is a long time to think about the opportunities we had and the opportunities we stubbornly rejected.

The links below are some of many articles written on this subject. The last two links are written from a Christian world view and one includes a book on the subject.

The Shocking Youth Message (Paul Washer)

YOU SAID A LITTLE PRAYER, BUT WHERE'S THE FRUIT?

The video above is a shocking message you won't hear in any nearby church. American Christianity is based more upon a godless culture than it is upon the word of God. This is exactly what my current speech, "Cultural Lies or Biblical Truth" is about.

We compare our lives to each others' instead of comparing our lives to scripture. Most of what we believe is dictated to us by our culture, not by the word of God. The Bible teaches that "you will know them by their fruit". In other words, you will know Christians by the change in their lives.

There's no such thing as a carnal Christian. If you are truly saved, you will walk in the way of righteousness. You'll talk differently, You'll dress differently. You will act differently.. Salvation will have made a noticeable difference in your life.

Watch the video above and then test yourself in light of scripture to see if you are truly in the faith. If you said the salvation prayer and are now living like the rest of the world, then there's a chance that you're really not saved at all.

THE BULLIES WON

Haven't we all done something we regret? Haven't we all made a foolish choice or two, probably many foolish choices. Don't we all have skeletons in our closet? Haven't we all done things that we wouldn't want the world to know?

Especially when we are young, we do stupid things without thinking. Imagine being haunted for years over one stupid mistake. Imagine being put through Hell because of one bad decision. Imagine never being forgiven for your mistake but instead being tormented day after day Never able to escape your tormentors.

This is what happened to a 15-year-old girl. She could easily be your daughter. Scroll down for more on this story.

IT'S ABOUT MONEY NOT ABOUT YOUR HEALTH

The vaccine industry is just another money-making, good-ol’-boy network of “Crony Capitalism”. It isn’t about your health or the “preparedness” of the nation for an outbreak. It’s about money. It’s about lining the pockets of the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry at any cost—including if that cost is your life or that of your child.

All Hallow's Eve

Watch the videos at the bottom of this article and you might look at Halloween differently. I once thought it was a harmless holiday of fun for kids, but after learning all the details about the origin of Halloween, it kind of gives me the creeps. There's even a warning in the Bible that might make you think twice about participating in Halloween celebrations.

All Hallow's Eve

THE HEALING POWER OF THOUGHTS AND WORDS

Lately I've been coming across interesting articles about how our thoughts and words have the power to heal or make us sick. Our bodies actually become more acidic when we speak or think negatively. For example, cancer is proven to be more prevalent in those who have suppressed anger. Cancer thrives when your body is in an acid state. This came from the book Natural Cures They Don't Want You to Know About by Kevin Trudeau.

Lately I've been trying to keep my mind clear of stressful situations and negative thoughts. I've been trying to speak more positively about others and about my life. When I continue to be led to articles on the same subject I always consider that it could be God who's leading me to those articles. Perhaps he thinks I need to change my thinking and be more careful with my words.

We can control what we dwell on in our minds and we can control what we say. And there's a great payoff for those who learn to speak and think positively. The payoff is peace and healing. Who doesn't want that?   - Danelle

"Think for a moment how your words could be affecting your life right now.
How do you talk about yourself, your present circumstances, and your future? When you talk with your friends, what kinds of things are you talking about?
I encourage you to form a habit of speaking positive words of faith every day. Words like, "I love my life and I have a great future. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. And something good is going to happen to me today."
Even when you're struggling to believe it, say it anyway. Our words have the power to change our mind and our attitude and shape our future." -Joyce Meyer

"The flu vaccine has been proven time and time again not to work. It contains not only live viruses but also, according to the CDC, these potential toxins: ”The following substances are found in vaccines: aluminum,(brain toxin) antibiotics, egg protein, formaldehyde (now listed as carcinogenic), MSG or monosodium glutamate (a known neurotoxin),and thimerosal(neurotoxic mercury).”

Links have been made from the flu shot to paralysis, increased likelihood of Alzheimers, weakened immune system, Dystonia (uncontrollable muscle spasms), and seizures."

WARDROBE REGRETS

Several weeks ago, my family made a trip to the Colonial Park Mall for the 50% off sale at the Bon Ton (Love that store). As my husband and I sat on a bench waiting for our daughter, we noticed something different about the girls that walked by. Many of them were wearing extremely short skirts and high heels. The heels were so high that the girls had trouble walking in them and the skirts were so short that I would call them "crotch level" skirts. I wouldn't want to witness any of those girls having to bend over and pick up something they dropped. It couldn't have been done without a flash of underwear.

A week later my husband and I went to church and we noticed something different there too. Did someone declare September as being short skirt month? I had never seen so many girls in short skirts at church. Girls are becoming more daring with what they wear. We concluded that after our trip to the mall. But I didn't expect to see it in church. Do I really want to bring my husband to a leg parade when I go to church? Isn't church the one place where we shouldn't have to see such things? Even my husband was offended by it and he's a guy.

I was once a short skirt girl, so I understand what these girls are trying to do. They're trying to draw attention to themselves. I wore a short skirt to the beach years ago when I was vacationing with my mom and sister. We had our photo taken on the boardwalk and that photo is now my Facebook photo. But I did some cropping before I posted it. Little did I know that when my account changed to the timeline layout the photo appeared uncropped. I just recently figured out how to delete it.

Some people might say, Well if you wore short skirts, then what right do you have to speak against it. Actually, I think that I have more of a right because I experienced the downfalls of making bad wardrobe choices. Short skirts did nothing for me but attract men of lesser character. They also stripped me of my dignity by making me an object to look at. I didn't make friends easily when I wore short skirts, especially when I went to places where women might bring their husbands and boyfriends. Those women knew I was trying to be the center of attention and they decided right then and there that they didn't like me.

Modesty promotes friendship with other women, but it also makes a girl look respectable, like the kind of girl that a good decent man would be attracted to. Surprisingly, good guys really don't want to see girls with cleavage out and legs on display. Consider this comment from a good guy: "You have no idea how sweet and challenging it is when I see a woman who has decided not to flaunt her body like the culture shouts for her to do."

When I think back to my younger days when I dressed without modesty, I regret my decisions. I believe that my choice of clothing brought negative consequences. Men saw me as someone to abuse rather than as someone to respect. My wardrobe was an open invitation for them to see me not as a person, but as an object. I suffered because of the way I presented myself. And I believe every girl who dresses to attract attention will live to regret her decisions.

Christian women should be especially sensitive to their wardrobe choices. What we wear sends a clear message and the message is either "Look at me, praise me or look at my savior and praise Him."
Women should dress with modesty first out of respect for God who teaches in Proverbs that "A beautiful woman lacking discretion and modesty is like a fine gold ring in a pig's snout." Secondly they should dress modestly out of respect for themselves, which is something I lacked in my twenties. And a third reason, which they often don't consider, is they should dress modestly out of respect for other women.

Women don't need their husbands and boyfriends to be constantly subjected to a display of cleavage, midriff and legs. If a man chooses to go to a strip show that's one thing, but he shouldn't have to see one when he comes to church or when he takes his daughter to the mall. He shouldn't have to see one when girls come to visit the family at his home. Women and girls need to get back to guidelines for how they dress. And I know exactly how they can do it. When they stand in front of the mirror before they walk out the door they can ask themselves this one question. Who am I wearing this for and why?

DOGS LOVE SUNSHINE

Our dog Jazz stands at the front door and whines when he wants to lay in the sun that streams through the glass storm door. He whines until someone opens the main door. Then he plops himself quickly on the entrance rug to let us know he doesn't want to go out. He just wants to soak up some rays. Looks like all dogs have this habit.

WHAT TO DO WITH A BIG FAT ONION

This is what's for dinner tonight. I have a big fat onion sitting on my kitchen counter since Friday (Auction Day) and a box of unopened Panko crumbs has been hanging out in my pantry for months. Tonight the two will unite and I hope it's a match made in Heaven because I LOVE Onion Rings. The last time I made onion rings they were dipped in a beer batter and the process took all day. I had to soak the onion rings in milk for two hours and then make the batter and let that sit for two hours. After all that work and the mess of a deep fryer, I was disappointed with the results. I vowed never to make onion rings again.

But I never tried baking them. And I never used Panko crumbs before. Here's the recipe I decided on. Maybe I'll mix up some horseradish ketchup for dipping. Yum.

THE PLAN IS GROWING (Watch the video)

This is a great article about the Muslim plan to "evangelize" America. They are doing it right before our eyes. The city of Detroit is an example of what our cities will look like when they become dominated by Muslims. I GREW UP EATING PLASTIC

I grew up eating Blue Bonnet margarine. Back then mothers were told that margarine is healthier than butter and they believed it. So they made the switch. Although I'm not a fan of dairy foods, I would eat butter over margarine because margarine seems more like plastic than food. Put your margarine in the sun on a hot day and you'll see what I mean. It doesn't melt.

Read the article below to learn why margarine is so bad for you and how to avoid it in certain foods.

Tim Tebow's 'Wife With a Servant's Heart' Remarks Misunderstood?

What's so terrible about serving others?  Have we become so self-centered that we think serving others means being a doormat?  God created woman and the first place he intended a woman to serve was as a wife. Genesis 2:18 tells us why God created woman: "And the Lord said, It is not good that the man should be alone. I will make him a helper fit for him."

The word "helper" suggests someone who is capable of thinking about her husband's needs. Women who can't do that don't make good wives and they often end up alone. One of the greatest ways for a woman to invest in a lasting marriage is to develop a servant's heart. This is the kind of woman that decent men look for because they know that marriage isn't easy. A man knows that his wife's attitude will either make his life peaceful or it will drive him crazy.

I was selfish in my first marriage and that marriage ended. I take part of the blame for that and I don't try to hide it. I know that I lacked a servant's heart and it hurt my marriage. As a speaker I advise women to get their minds off themselves and start thinking about their husband's needs and their children's needs.  The amazing thing that often happens when they start doing that is that the whole family begins to change. When a man feels respected he's more likely to show love to his wife, which is exactly what she longs for. So a wife invests in her own happiness by serving her husband.

The words" serve" and "submit" are two words that are hated by feminists. What we need to ask is this: Do feminists have good marriages? Do they really know what they're talking about and can they prove that being selfish is what makes marriage work? I suspect that many feminists are single and many of them aren't happily married because it just doesn't work when a wife is all about herself. It goes against God's plan for her to be a "helper" to her husband and when you go against God's plan, your life becomes a great big mess. I say that from experience.

Is America The Most Materialistic Society In The History Of The World?

First I want to thank Bob for inspiring me to write this. Your encouragement meant a lot

This past weekend my husband and I attended a wedding reception that was more like a class reunion. Two of our classmates from high school got married. Our graduating class of 1980 now includes many couples who married within our class. In fact, my husband and I are from the same graduating class of Upper Dauphin Area High School.

The conversations I had at Ben and Lisa's wedding reception were quite interesting. We talked about the economy, our high school years, Obamacare, the muslim religion, Lymes Disease...even Jesus was a topic of conversation. But I noticed that no one seemed to be talking about material things.

There was a time when conversations with my classmates had a more competitive nature. Everyone wanted to know who had made something of himself and who was living the good life of wealth and luxury. But we must have grown beyond all that because now people were talking about  more important things, like staying healthy and spending time with family. It was as if we finally realized how unimportant material things really are.

My husband's friends were razzing him about his recent retirement at the young age of 50. They might have been a little jealous, but they have no idea what sacrifices were made to make that possible. I married someone who loves to save money even more than I do. And because of all those weekends we spent at home, the vacations we never took, and all those material things we wanted but never bought, we are now able to live on his retirement income. We have no debt and I only work part time doing things I love...teaching art and writing.

Instead of trying to accumulate material things, we made a life out of living simply without a lot of stuff. While everyone else was increasing their debt, we were working at getting out of debt. And now we're reaping the rewards.

When I look around I see so many people who bring unnecessary stress into their lives because they love to have stuff that they can show off to the neighbors. If they wouldn't have wasted all that money over the years they could probably have a simple house that's paid for. They wouldn't be dependent on others and they wouldn't be a slave to the debt they've accumulated.

To me success has nothing to do with how big your house is, how expensive your car is or how sharply dressed you are. Success is being smart with what you have and doing the most with what you've worked for. Success is having peace of mind and not being a slave to your stuff. Success is realizing that stuff can't make you happy and showing off your stuff brings little satisfaction.  It's savoring simplicity and using the extra time it gives you to appreciate what really matters.

STAY INFORMED, BE PREPARED!

This blog is on hiatus. I strongly encourage you to use the links to the right of my page under World Events and Prophecy to stay informed of what's happening  in America and around the world. We are living in precarious times and being informed is vital to your survival. As we approach the next election, experts are predicting that Obama will declare marshall law by the end of 2012. Our national debt recently hit 16 trillion dollars. War between Iran and Israel is growing closer and consistent patterns of hostility toward Christians are becoming obvious. Our country is changing  and it's not the good kind of change that we were promised. - Danelle
